MOTIVATION BEHIND HIS ARTWORK - IF NECESSARY DEFROST

MOTIVATION BEHIND HIS ARTWORK - IF NECESSARY DEFROST

"Many countries have funds to help eradicate poverty affecting a large part of the world’s population, or at least to offer them a better future. I illustrated this idea by using original banknotes from around the world. I cut them to symbolize that only a tiny portion of these countries’ wealth would be sufficient to significantly improve living conditions globally.

On the other side of the door, the visitor will discover faces painted on small cards. These are the people who need help. Some cards are white, representing lives yet to be born, while others are inlaid with a few coins, symbolizing the meager resources of the poorest.

So, my message is simple: A message of hope and inclusion. A mission. And we are all involved.”

ANTONIO NATALE - THE ARTIST OF BANKNOTES

ANTONIO NATALE - THE ARTIST OF BANKNOTES

The essence of the Art of Antonio Natale is an invitation to an internal as well as an external voyage.
Through the stories he tells, the Artist opens a secret doorway to an enchanted universe and invites the beholder to discover a thousand messages through a game of light and transparence mixed with tenderness and sarcasm. His messages are those of silenced people, the oppressed, the weak and the forgotten. They are also poems expressed through the eyes of love and internal beauty.

Antonio Natale has chosen out of circulation banknotes from the world over to express his views and feelings, his revolt in the face of injustice and his acclamation for life and for hope. He takes the spectator on a voyage thought the ages, countries and their diversity with the banknotes he uses to create. Thus, changing the significance of his support, for not only he restores the lost value of the banknotes, but he also unifies the people of the world throughout the ages under the unique banner of Art. He therefore expresses the fact that we face the same battle and the same hurts and invites us to introspect, and reflect on human condition. It’s an ode to LOVE, an S.O.S, he sends to the world.

THE AUCTION "IF NECESSARY DEFROST" BY ANTONIO NATALE

Join us in bidding for a unique piece symbolizing hope and humanity.

    About the Artwork:

"When I agreed to collaborate with Galerie Calamart on their Conservation project, an idea blossomed within me like a rose: to paint a white rose on banknotes from various parts of the world. On the back of the door, faces of people would be painted on cards.

The idea is to thaw my white rose, a symbol of our conscience, to reconnect with humanity through donations, funds, and economic assistance to the less fortunate. The white rose becomes a magical portal linking two very different realities: ours and that of the needy"

Materials: Acrylic on cut-out original banknotes from the world over, cards, coins, and varnish on a refrigerator door, mounted on a metal stand
